Pension Auto Enrolment
From October 2012 employers have started to be required to auto enrol their staff into a company pension scheme and to make contributions as well. The process is being rolled out over the course of the next few years with larger employers being first and smaller employers starting later. Each employer will be allocated a Staging Date, a date by which time they are required to auto enrol their employees. This is determined by the Pensions Regulator and is mandatory.
At its peak some 120,000 of the smallest employers will be Staging every month. As many of these employers will require help to achieve this requirement this will place a massive burden on those who are available to support and will inevitably lead to a skills shortage.
